NYE 2017 Kennebunkport
Every year I find myself debating what to do for NYE - to go out or to not to go out? You would think that by now I would have that figured out (and time management for that fact since it's now Jan. 11th and I am just now getting around to something that happened last year), but I don't.
I always have these grandiose ideas about the perfect NYE - like you see in the movies - and year after year I try to find it. We've done every type of NYE under the sun looking for just the right fit from traveling to cities like NYC & Boston, dinner dances, cruises, house parties, movie nights, fireworks and more... I mean the list goes on and on and I have literally been searching since college. BUT, I am happy to say that I have now found our best NYE ever and it was right under our noses the whole time right here in Maine.
This year we opted for a NYE party hosted at David's in Kennebunkport which consisted of tray passed hors d' oeuvres, food stations, live music, a DJ, photo booth, hosted bar and lots (and I do mean lots) of dancing. It was absolute perfection, especially with mini cheeseburgers being passed after midnight (yes, that was my highlight). The crowd was an excellent mix of different ages, everyone was well dressed, people were happy and the vibe was lively. We danced the night away, took about a million photobooth snaps and I personally ate enough oysters to pay for our tickets twice over. I could not have asked for more - it was such a great way to close out 2016 which was already one of my most favorite years to date.
The only bad thing about the weekend was that I could only wear one dress to the event, and I had two to choose from (I know, I know first world problems). So I figured I would start with the dress that although I loved, didn't make the final cut for the evening. The cut and the one sleeve cape on this dress were stunning, but for NYE and dancing and eating and drinking champs...it was just a bit too form fitting for me. I wanted to be able to move and be comfortable - so although it was a stunner - the only NYE action it got was during the afternoon for this shoot.
My Game of Thrones esque shot with the fur and the snow and fancy long dress...
This cape was so unique - the photos do not do it justice, definitely something I would rent again for a wedding.
Up next? NYE look #2 that actually made it to the partay.
