A Maine Girl in Paris
I cannot believe it's been a month since we were in Europe, but with the whirlwind of the holidays and a few small trips it's no wonder. As I am looking back on these photos it feels like yesterday and a dream all in one. Visiting Paris was such an overall amazing experience, but our visits to the Eiffel Tower were by far my favorite aspects of the trip. We made a trip over on one of our first nights in Paris, and since it was later in the evening we were the only ones in the park. We sat there with a bottle of champagne and just took in the lights and the moment, absolutely amazing. In fact...funny story about that night, as we were sitting there in awe of the beauty and the whole moment I said to my husband something along the pinch me lines of "I can't believe we are here..." and then just a few seconds a rat scurried over our feet. Like a bit city, gross, hairy rat. And it brought us back down to earth - checking us right out of our surreal moment back into our room in reality. I nearly died laughing, and it was perfect.
A few days later we headed back over to the Eiffel Tower in the late afternoon - which was a whole different experience. Although it was a stunning sunset there were SO many people and street peddlers that it just wasn't quite as magical as when it was just the two of us. It was, however, perfect lighting for some photos, one of which ended up on our Christmas card which instantly became an all time favorite among family & friends.
And, likely my favorite photo of us of all time...
I am ready to go back...travel planning for 2017 must begin soon.
