Fall Stripes and The Gem Lounge

September 14, 2016

These last few days it has really been feeling like fall; the evenings and mornings are chilly, the leaves are starting to turn, the tourists have subsided and there is a crispness in the air that I am absolutely loving.

That being said fall also brings out quite a few of my fashion favorites; boots, skinnies, knit dresses, layers, jewel tones and cozy textures. Although I haven't made the full wardrobe transition quite yet I am definitely sneaking some pieces in, and possibly doing a little bit of shopping.

One thing that I am finding myself collecting a lot more of lately are accessories - I honestly have most of my core fashion pieces and mix in the trendy ones via Rent the Runway - which has decreased my clothing shopping. And like I have always said, new accessories are the best way to remix and transition your wardrobe.

Living here in Maine there are a lot of local-inspired pieces and one that I have recently found and fallen in love with is Gem Lounge Jewelry, and more specifically their necklaces, like this Maine Bar necklace in  today's look. So when Melissa, the owner and designer at Gem Lounge Jewelry reached out to me for a partnership I was more than thrilled! (Make sure to read her full interview & bio below)

The detail in this piece is ideal for layering with a simple, elegant design and clean lines.

Plus...the best news is that I will be giving this piece away to one lucky winner! Talk about a great way to end the week right?

In order to enter simply follow these steps:

1. Like the Gem Lounge on Facebook & follow them on Instagram

2. Like 5th & Magnolia on Facebook & follow us on Instagram

3. Leave a comment with how you would style this necklace

The winner will be chosen on September 28th - Good Luck!

Interview with Melissa Evans at The Gem Lounge

Name:
Melissa (Missi) Evans

Where are you from:
I grew up in southern Maine in the lakes region area.  I attended college in New Orleans before eventually making in back home.

How/Why did you start your business:
I started making jewelry in 2009 as a release from a daunting a busy schedule of working a corporate job full time in Portland and going to graduate school at night.  Eventually after great feedback from family and friends I took the leap to start a business with my treasures.  I started running my business full time in 2012.

What inspires you:
I look for inspiration from my travels around the world.  My goal with Gem Lounge Handcrafted Jewelry is to make jewelry that is classic with a modern twist.  Designs that can mix and match metals, and layer well.

What type of materials do you use for your pieces:
Gem Lounge uses only the finest high quality pieces.  The metals used in the designs are all eco-friendly, recycled sterling silver and gold-filled materials.  It is all produced in the U.S.  Gem Lounge also uses only the best freshwater and Japanese Akoya saltwater pearls and semi-precious gemstones in our designs.  I strive to to make designs that have the best quality materials but at affordable prices.

Are you adding any new pieces or collections soon:
Actually I am and I couldn’t be more excited about it!  I’ve been working on a line of genuine leather bracelets in all kinds of different designs and colors that will look awesome stacked with our copper cuffs or sterling silver bangles.

Where/How can we purchase your pieces:
Our jewelry can be purchased on our website,
www.GemLoungeJewelry.com and a growing number of stores around the Northeast.  You can find the growing list of our stores on our website as well.

So adorable. I would wear this all the time! However, I would love to pair this with my favorite navy and white polka dot dress. I like to pair flashy clothes with simple designs like this!!

Agreed - you can't go wrong with navy & white! That would be a great look:) xo - magaret

This is so cute! It is simple enough for everyday wear solo, but for a night out I would layer it with some bigger flashier strands

Could not agree more! Perfect for layering:)
