The last leg of our Europen adventure was spent in Rome and as we drove from the airport into the city I was in love. I was surprised at home immensely dense Rome is, I mean the buildings are right on top of each other with these narrow little streets in all different directions and around every corner (or at least it felt this way) there was a gorgeous old church or historic monument. I mean, literally you turn a corner and there's the Pantheon. It was insane an d so much fun to explore - we must have walked at least 5 miles a day.
I loved all of the cobblestone streets lined with shops and cafes - drank way too much coffee, enjoyed gelato every afternoon and ate my fair share of pasta (which I never do). So to say it was an indulgent treat would be an understatement. BUT...we were on vacation and it was our last stop - so I figured...why the hell not?!
Plus the hotel had an awesome rooftop open air gym - so I feel like I balanced it out. Moderation (ish) right?!
Best part? The city was decorated for Christmas - so everywhere you turned there were twinkle lights, Christmas trees, holiday displays and music (wow...the music, I mean street performers took it to another level here). Such a great time of year to experience Rome. The entire city was buzzing and filled with such an energizing and happy vibe. I can't even begin to describe it and we could not have planned for a better place to end our epic adventure.
The travel bug in me is starting to itch...
