Last week the husband and I traveled north for a mini-getaway to enjoy Winter Carnival in Quebec City. Just 5 hours north and it was like being transported to a different world - cobblestone steets, beautiful brick and stone chateuax-esque buildings, the smell of fresh pastry in the streets and snow falling ever so perfectly.
We enjoyed two nights at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, which is a historic and ridiculously stunning property that I would highly suggest should you ever make your way to Quebec City. As if the fact that the hotel looks like a castle in the clouds wasn't already enough, they topped it off with impeccable service, newly renovated rooms and wonderful amenities including an indoor pool, spa and large fitness center. You also can't beat the location; we were able to walk to all of the Winter Carnival festivities, parks, shops, restaurants and had amazing views of the city and water from our room.
The biggest selling factor for me were their on site bars & restaurants. Our personal favorite was 1608 - Wine & Cheese bar which was quite possibly the most stunningly decorate bar I have ever seen (take a peek below). The attention to detail was unreal, and it's hard to see but the bar is actually a round room and the windows overlook the water and the busy walkways below. We came both nights, and our last night cancelled a dinner reservations and opted to just eat in the bar instead because we loved it so much. And don't even get me started on their hand crafted cocktails - they take it to another level here.
I'm already planning on how we can recreate their light fixtures in our home and their copper bar gear for our bar cart.
It was such a great stay, so much so that we are already planning a trip back this summer or fall so that we can further explore the city.
More to come from our trip over the next few days, as well as our trip to the famous Hotel Glace.
