Beach Blue

June 7, 2017

When it comes to personal style I constantly have two internal battles going on; one side of  me is a total cut-off short, t-shirt & sandals beach girl and the other side is a night out in the city in chic dresses & heels kind of gal. For the most part these styles converge with maxi dresses, statement jewelry pieces and occassional heels - but when I get anywhere near the ocean I immediately retreat to that easy going, loose layers, beach bum look.

So, needless to say, when we were in Baltimore last month and the sun came out to greet us with a 75+ degree day I found myself craving this cozy soft shirtdress and sandals.

I mean, after winter and a drizzly spring here in Maine...can you blame me?

Right now I am rather obsessed with layering a mix of metals, fringe and gem stones - this arm candy is a collection of Kendra Scott, Banana Republic & J.Crew.

Another reason for the look? I had been dying for a chance to take these new pom pom lace-up sandals (from Target of all places) for a spin.

This week we will be in Kennebunkport for the Kennebunkport Food & Wine Festival. It's the festival that really kicks off summer here in Maine and my favorite of the entire year (and we have a lot of festivals here). After a busy last few weeks at work I am definitely looking forward to relaxing with the husband in one of my all time favorite Maine beach towns.

Cobalt

May 31, 2017

A color that I don't wear often, but should more so, is blue.

It's not because I dislike the color, but more so because I struggle with it. Especially in the winter when so much of what I wear are skinnies (the whole blue on blue thing is something I struggle with). Honestly, other than black on black and I am not one for monochromatic looks.

However, once the weather warms I love taking advantage of the opportunity to mix in some new colors.

Like this bold blue number from Slate & Willow, which caught my eye with the eyelet lace and midi hem... it was absolute perfection for a late spring soiree, hosted by Maine Magazine, at The Cliff House.

I kept it local with some of my favorite Maine made accessories featuring Alaina Marie clutch and Watts of Maine cuff (which has become an everyday staple piece for me).

We are finally going to be home for more than a week so I will be catching up on blog posts, including our stay at the Cliff House, next week.

Pom Pom

May 29, 2017

I love a good long holiday weekend - makes the following work week that much sweeter (and shorter). For us it was a busy one...we flew back from Florida Saturday afternoon and got right back into the swing of it preparing the house & backyard for our annual Memorial Day BBQ.

Thankfully the sun graced us with it's presence and it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day!

I used the Monday holiday to get caught up on work and some blog posts from our recent travels including this LBD from our trip to Baltimore.

I loved the cut outs and detailing on this dress - it's hard to see but the sleeve cut outs are lined with little pom poms (who doesn't love pom poms?!).
