Merry Christmas

December 23, 2015

The holiday season is one of the best of the year, and I truly feel it brings out the best in people. Taking moments to be thankful for what you have, who you have to share it with and what you have to offer others...that's what it's about for me (and gifts of course). Most of all though I LOVE to decorate, it's a sickness how much I plan and look forward to it. I just can't help myself.

With this year being the first in our very own home it was even more exciting, and a bit surreal. There are moments where I still can't believe that we own a home, like it's ours...every little piece of it. I never thought I would be a homeowner...I somehow pictured us being gypsys forever and traveling. Though I must admit, having a place to call home has been more amazing than I could have imagined.

This holiday season we have enjoyed visitors, family parties, cocktail parties and are getting ready to host Christmas Eve Dinner and dinner the day after Christmas as well as having our own intimate Christmas morning just the three of us (I am counting our dog here people not a BOB). I am more than thankful, filled with excitemant and anxiously awaiting people to arrive and hopefully...fingers triple crossed...some snow.

In the meantime I wanted to share some snaps of our tree, holiday decor and some sneak peaks of the rest of the home before you see it on HGTV in the spring. I hope you enjoy and get some decor ideas, I went with a coastal theme as always, but this year we opted for gold rather than our normal silver. I love how it turned out, and I must give credit to the husband for picking our awesome ship tree topper.

The tree is filled with starfish, glass whales, seahorse, clamshells and glass balls filled with sand and shells. Some I made and others we snagged at Pottery Barn.

I love incorporating holiday throws and pillows - it's a great way to change up your decor without spending an arm and a leg. I snagged the snowflake pillows & throws at Home Goods, the fur pillows at Christmas Tree Shop and the plaid pillow with fur trim at Michaels.

You wouldn't believe it...but the jingle pillow with bells on each corner, straigh from Home Depot! No joke, $10. Awesome find while at my least favorite store.

An equal favorite of ours is the bar cart - which we are still perfecting, but was absolutely a must have!

Our Master Bedroom with our most loved piece of furniture...our King size cozy bed. We look forward to sleeping in this every night, it's amazing. I was also so excited to finally have an "adult" bed with a headboard and fancy bedding...especially the fur throw.

Trinkets on my dresser.

Guest bedroom which I wanted to be bright & cheery - and so far it's gotten quite a bit of use!

Last but not least a final look at our tree, and in the bottom left corner you can see the train coming around the bend. The husband was so excited for this train, it may  have been the cutest thing I have ever seen. He's such a big kid and Christmas and it warms my normally stoic heart.

My hommeade wreath - which I am ever so proud of and our outdoor lights thanks to the handy hus.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas, or a Merry whatever you may choose to celebrate.

The holidays are nearing...and for me it's always more fun to give than to receive. Mostly, because I loathe surprises. They make me physically uncomfortable and nervous...which surprisingly enough is what I love about surprising others. I can typically barely contain myself when I have a good gift for someone, I get so excited.

This of course makes giving me gifts, especially for the hus, extra hard. It's really not fair for him. So this year, I have put together a little inspiration of some bling I have been coveting, almost all on some sort of sale!

1. Similar to the ring LC sported on her blog, I love the simplicty of this one

2. I am all about local, so I love the idea of the coordinates of our home engraved

3. Loving the simple sparkle on this necklace for layering

4. Again...sporting my Maine pride with this piece

5. A good monogram lasts forever, and this engraved ring is a total classic

6. I have been stalking this watch for a while now, what a great addition to my summer accesory collection

7. This is a great everyday ring a little twist on the traditional anniversary ring

8. & 9. Who doesn't love Michael Kors, here and here, and on sale to boot!

10.  Lastly, a traditional anniversary ring, another classic

Happy Holiday Shopping!
